Flapjacks

These are the easiest treats to make ever and only take 15 minutes in the oven. You literally only need four ingredients. I’ve been obsessed with making these lately as you can vary them so much but first this is the simple basic flapjack recipe which is perfect with a cup of tea. If you like these check out my chocolate and banana version.

Ingredients

Makes approx 12

250g oats

125g butter

125g caster sugar

3 tablespoons of golden syrup

Method

Pre heat oven to 180C and grease a tin approx size 20x20cm

Weigh out all of your ingredients into separate bowls as trust me this is not an all in one mixture which to my detriment I found out!

Gently heat a saucepan with the butter, sugar and syrup and stir together.

Gradually add the oats ( if you add all of the ingredients in the same bowl straight away the oats just stick to the butter and syrup coating them and the butter will not melt nicely how you want it to) ensuring they all get coated with the syrupy butter mixture.

Once combined take the pan off the stove and transfer to your greased baking tin. Bake in the centre of the oven for 15 minutes.

As soon as they come out of the oven score into even sized squares and allow too cool. You need to do this right away as once they set you won’t be able to divide them up. I get a palette knife and transfer these onto a plate into strips and then slice right through into squares.

It’s as easy as that.
